Let me make you a custom piece with these Elm Burl Slabs
These Elm burl slabs are from in front of the Portland Central Library, I have rescued it from the burn pile and milled it to reveal the magic within. Elm was once abundant but its numbers have been decimated due to Dutch Elm Disease, fortunately this affliction has left Elm populations on the West Coast largely unscathed. The beautiful grain in reminiscent of oak, but warmer, and tends to burl readily making for amazing and fascinating grain patterns.
These slabs measures 48”-36” x 64” x 1.75” together and each individual slab measures 24”-17” x 64” x 1.75”. They are suitable for many custom pieces. It would make an excellent desk, large coffee table and even a small dining or bistro table. Additional material is available from the same tree to create even larger pieces. A true conversation piece.
